It’s time for ill.Gates to start teasing us with audio brilliance from his forthcoming album, Departures. The first sampling is a tune that he composed mostly while Live Streaming on Facebook and Youtube, he had some studio guests that popped in to the studio to help out, and these included some quirky bass music heads like Mr. Bill, Blockboii, Tha Fruitbat and Goopsteppa. The result is a horror fiction in audio that H.P. Lovecraft himself would have loved. The vibes are dark, the baselines and other sound design is twisted and at times seriously creepy, while the vocal samples lead you on a journey into the depths of the unknown. ‘Cthulhu’ stands out as a unique composition, not your normal dubstep. ill.Gates is a Toronto-born San Francisco based composer, performer and educator. Over the past decade, he has established a global fanbase and a reputation as one of the most dynamic electronic music artists around.
