Rook is non other than David Rook, a beat maker from Oakland California that draws on everything crunk in the west coast arsenal of sounds. Having studied at Ex'pression College for Digital Arts, Rook is no stranger to pushing limits in his production On Over Under, Rook lays down betas and bass so rugged that they inspire a solid jackhammering of any surface theyre played near. Relentlessly wobbly and drawing on a solid backbone of funk, the EP also delves into Dubstep on eAquatic Robotic and Dancehall influences on the collaboration tune eLeft Coast featuring Karim So. We first encountered Rook when he submitted his remix of Thriftworks - Get The Lectroid for our Acid Crunk compilation series. The futuristic sounds that lay over funky bass-driven beats proved to be ideal for everything active in addition to rocking dance floors, as it went on to be licensed by DC shoes for X-Games commercials and was also used for multiple action sport video shoots. The future is bright for this emerging young producer.
