Muti Music

Muti Music is an independent record label that is based in San Francisco, CA created in 2002 by Dov1, representing a sampling of artists who represent a large amount of the sound heard in global festival culture, and specializing in electronic music and a wide range bass music genres including Halftime, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, UK Bass, Trap, Dub, Jungle, Garage, 2-Step, Glitch Hop, Ragga and Experimental and Emerging sounds.

We are committed to supporting musicians, artists and communities and advancing bass music culture.




Muti  meaning:

In South African English, the word “muti” is derived from the Zulu/Xhosa word umuthi, meaning “tree,” whose root is -thi.
In Southern Africa, “muti” and cognates of umuthi are in widespread use in most indigenous African languages as well as in South African English and Afrikaans, which sometimes use “muti” as a slang word for medicine in general, or even as a term for ‘good luck’.
