Wait It Out’ was a song we made early in the RGP existence and was the first our collab's with the great Karl D. KD starts the song with a poignant flute solo. It has a heartfelt, hopeful feeling, reminding me of when I was young, driving the coast, a feeling of goodbye to whom I was, and embracing the unknown road ahead of me. I feel it's pretty relevant to what I'm experiencing during this pandemic, a big-love infused-RESET. The solo paints an almost scenic landscape, bouncing and weaving around a lo-fi hip hop beat and soulful piano riff. Enter Shane Hall. With raw power and beauty his vocals invite the listener into his relationship. He sets the scene with great analogy, building into the imagery of the chorus, which rings of CONTENTMENT. "We can plant a garden in our living room, and we can wait it out till the summer comes back." Burkey (me) then does a little descriptive word play around a moment in time, one I hope brings a certain feeling and personal connection to the story. lyrics You and me, foundation can't see, we build our house, plant our seeds, unlock the door and throw the key away deep in the garden, we'll wait it out till the summer comes (2x) We can plant a garden in our living room We can wait it out till the summer comes back It's like it's raining in the summertime and its hot outside and the fireworks are later on that night so ain't nobody dressed up yet, you can tell theres a crush in the air but it ain't turned to lust just yet.
